The altar rose is in honor of Samuel James Tompkins, son of Christina and Derek Tompkins. Samuel was born Dec. 29 and is welcomed by brothers Brayden, Michael and Wyatt.
Your offerings make a difference.
*Last Sunday you gave $93.62 to BUMC children and youth programs through your noisy change offering!
*Christmas Eve you gave $778.64 to Coffey County Resource Council through the special offering. This will benefit local families up to $200 each per year.
*Next Sunday an optional United Methodist offering envelope will be in the bulletin for “Human Relations Day.” This supports the Community Developers Program and community advocacy through United Methodist Voluntary Services, related to the General Board of Global Ministries, and at-risk teens through the Youth Offender Rehabilitation program.
Please sign up to share your smile and hospitality with your church family. Ushers and hospitality schedules will be passed around at second service in hopes of scheduling volunteers.
January’s Men’s Breakfast is Friday at 7 am. All men are invited to Across the Borders restaurant for fellowship and breakfast. The group meets the second Friday of each month.
Footprints Youth have spent the weekend at “OneEvent,” a Conference youth event in Salina. They will be gearing up for BUMC’s Youth Sunday on January 21.
Souper Bowl is coming. Plan to donate cans of soup to “vote” for your favorite team. After Feb. 4, the soup collection in the narthex will be delivered to God’s Storehouse, who is the real winner of BUMC’s annual Souper Bowl event!
The new chairs in Garst Hall were purchased by the Sewing Circle. Part of these funds were raised through Best Choice labels. Please save the UPC label from Best Choice products and give labels to Ida Belle Caldwell or the church office. BUMC receives 3 cents per label, and these pennies quickly add up!
A Spark Moment will be shared next Sunday by Susan Croll. Interested in forming a three-member Spark Group and want more information? Contact a member of the Ignite Team: Hope Peckham, Bob Culbertson, Darla Jones, Joyce Hopkins, Pastor Scott Hannon, Susan Croll, Weston Fleming or Sarah Rice.
Consider sharing a meal with the youth group at one of their 5:30 pm meetings. Coordinate a date with Richard and Susan Croll or sign up online at www.takethemameal.com and use Youth for the log-in and Footprints for the password.
Do you have pictures of church events or information to be submitted to the monthly newsletter? Please send it to the church office by the 20th of each month; the sooner the better! One of our goals is to improve communication, and you can contribute to that!
